Take a short train from Munich to Augsburg to visit the city where Zach and Celine met.

Take an expensive but worthwhile gondola journey to the top of Germany’s highest mountain. Try to spend as much time as possible on the peak, enjoy the view, and try a beer on the German side and the Austrian side.
Schloss Neuschwanstein
An absolute must do for all Americans visiting Bavaria for the first time. The famous castle can be reached by car in 1.5 hours or by Train + Bus in 2.5 hours.
Königssee
Hike around this beautiful lake, take a romantic boat tour, or visit the nearby historical Kehlsteinhaus (Eagle’s Nest).
Rothenburg ob der Tauber
Another typical tourist attraction, reachable in 3 hours by train or 2.5 hours by car, a visit to this medieval village is well worth the drive. Say “Hallo” to the German Omas and enjoy the character of this beautiful city.
Getting Around Bavaria
The best way to get around is by train. If you stay within Bavaria we recommend the Bayern Ticket (32€/day for the first person +10€ per additional person) which allows unlimited travel on regional trains, trams, underground, and buses throughout the entire state.
